The church was consecrated in 1896. The church's patron saint, Achatius, is one of the 14 holy helpers. Shortly after the consecration, it became apparent that the original chapel building was too small for the rapidly increasing number of worshippers at the time. The much larger nave, which was added as a result, now faces north rather than east, as is usual for Christian churches.

The Bielefeld - Paderborn train line takes you directly to Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock. The nearest bus stop to the St. Achatius church is Stukenbrock Forellkrug, where bus lines 82, 84.1 and H3 stop. The best way to reach the church by car is via the A33 highway, taking the Stukenbrock-Senne exit. Then turn right onto Paderborner Straße and after about 2.1 km turn onto Am Furlbach, after 500 m turn right onto Senner Straße and follow this road for 700 m. The church is then on the right-hand side.
The SHS 3 cycle path and the Ems-Erlebnis hiking trail lead past it
