Historic town centre
Well-kept village with a long tradition
Glass and porcelain characterise the joint municipality of Boffzen with its towns of Fürstenberg, Lauenförde, Meinbrexen and Derental.

High above the Weser, Fürstenberg has been home to one of the oldest porcelain factories in Europe since 1747. Even today, the Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory still places great value on handcraftsmanship, resulting in unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that can also be purchased directly from the factory outlet. The adjoining museum informs visitors about the history of porcelain in an appealing way. Fürstenberg Castle is one of the historic sites in the Historic Weser Uplands - follow in the footsteps of the past here! What porcelain is in Fürstenberg, glass is in Boffzen. The joint municipality can look back on around 500 years of glassmaking tradition.

The opportunity to experience the life of our ancestors up close is unique. The medieval village of Bokenrode promises "hands-on history" and invites groups of young people and adults to take a trip back in time. In contrast, you can marvel at modern designer chairs in the TECTA/cantilever chair museum in Lauenförde, which also has a marina. With its unique natural harbour, it is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts of all kinds.

Derental invites you to take a stroll with its beautiful half-timbered houses and a show enclosure with wild horses and Heck cattle, while in Meinbrexen you can recharge your batteries in the café in the manor house.

Delicacies for sophisticated cuisine, oils for healing and care, natural cosmetics and teas can be purchased at the Solling oil mill in Boffzen. But that's not all. In the Schaumühle with its mill shop and mill garden, you can also learn about the journey from seed, nuts and herbs to cold-pressed organic cooking oil.
