The crevices and scree fields on the steep slopes of Ziegenberg and Brunsberg provide an ideal hiding place for numerous animal species. The great crested newt also spends the winter here safely. Its spawning waters are located directly at the foot of the Ziegenberg and Brunsberg in the Taubenborn and in the Grundlosen. Due to its size and impressive crest, it is reminiscent of a miniature version of a dragon.
Explore the cliffs and rock formations of the Weser slopes near Höxter and be impressed by the fascinating views of the Weser valley and the neighboring Solling. Enjoy great rest stops at the Rabenklippen and the Brunsberg hut.
The extensive mixed beech forests on the slopes of the Weser are also home to numerous rare plant species. In early spring, liverworts, cowslips and daphne delight visitors with their bright blue, yellow or purple flowers and in autumn, the beech forest experiences a true explosion of color: Indian summer on the Weser.
