Museum/Exhibition
The Heimatstube in the former Schöning cigar factory provides an insight into how people used to live and work.
18th century: At times, the processing of the tobacco plant from America provided work for almost a quarter of Vlotho's population. Today: The "Schöning Factory" has become the "Culture Factory". The youth art school, youth center, local history museum, public library and cultural events are housed here.

A 1:100 scale model of Vlotho Castle by Heinz Kreideweiß is on display in the Heimatstube Vlotho. Here you can see what the castle may have looked like - surrounded by a mighty wall with towers and half-towers, with ramparts and a moat. Also on display in the Heimatstube: A complete "corner store", interesting facts about cigar making,  spinning and weaving, traditional costumes and much more.
