The so-called "Hansehaus" was extended in 1628 with a Renaissance extension and a bay window. Before 1900, the stepped gables had been removed and the house plastered over.
The restoration (1969-1973), initiated by a citizens' initiative, restored the house to its original state.
The house is now seen as the last example of the numerous brick town houses with stepped gables that once stood in Minden.
