With the support of the town of Harsewinkel and the ADAC after the first beginnings of motorsport in Harsewinkel in 1979, the MSC Motorsportclub Harsewinkel began building its own stadium. On August 19 of the same year, the first sand track race took place under the astonished eyes of the audience and the crowd of officials present. The Motodrom was given the obvious name "Emstal Stadium" and subsequently saw one prestigious race after another. The design and construction were so successful that drivers, officials and spectators enjoyed using the new stadium and Harsewinkel's fame spread far beyond the country's borders.
A kart racing track was completed for racing in 1980 and a new field of activity was created for amateur racers with the establishment of a rental kart operation. In the following years, the MSC was able to continue to expand the attractive stadium: Pit facilities, sanitary buildings, grandstands and the clubhouse were built.
In the meantime, the following motorsport disciplines are at home in Emstal:
- Sand track racing
- Super Moto racing (cross machines)
- Kart racing
- Automobile slalom
- Youth kart slalom.
Since 1970, the local motorsport club has also been actively involved in youth work. More than fifty children and young people between the ages of eight and eighteen are given the opportunity to get into racing under professional guidance.
