Nature reserve/natural monument
lake

The Hasselbach has been dammed since 1641 and forms the Donoper pond in the Hiddeser forest.

The name goes back to the von Donop family, one of the oldest noble families in Lippe. Their line of ancestors can be traced back to the 14th century. The family members owned manors and were in the service of the counts of Lippe. The Donop pond was used for fish farming for centuries and even today you can observe various species of fish of different sizes from the banks.

Today, the Donop pond nature reserve is a popular excursion destination for hikers, walkers and families.
