The Hasselbach is a left tributary of the Werre, which among other things feeds the Hasselbach reservoir. The name Hasselbach refers to the horse breeding of the Senner horses at the time, as "Hassel" means "foal" in Low German. The lake was first used industrially in 1565 with a grain mill and was later used to generate electricity. It has been open to the public since 1982.

The Hasselbach reservoir, which is surrounded by forests and the most beautiful nature, holds 13,000m² of water and has a surface area of 1.3 hectares. You can also reach this lake by using the parking lot at Donoper Teich, taking a look at the information boards and following one of the A7, A8 or A9 hiking trails.
