Services – various
The Minden-Lübbecke Biological Station Association runs one of the oldest biological stations in NRW.
The tasks and objectives are, on the one hand, the management of numerous nature reserves of European rank in various landscape areas of the Minden-Lübbecke district. These are located within the EU bird sanctuaries "Weseraue" and "Bastauniederung" as well as in the FFH areas "Großes Torfmoor", "Große Aue" and "Heisterholz". The Biological Station's operational area covers approx. 5,600 ha. Protected area management includes cooperation with agriculture, dialog with various user groups, advising authorities, institutions and citizens, statements and participation in all processes in the areas under management as well as regular area inspections. On the other hand, the tasks and objectives of the Biological Station include planning and implementing nature conservation measures, recording flora and fauna as well as environmental education and public relations work.
