Bookshop/library
In the heart of the city lies one of Verl's most popular meeting places: the library. Following a comprehensive redesign, which was completed in August 2021, it is now one of the most modern libraries in the region.

The large selection of media has something for every age and every taste: whether you want to read novels, need tips for planting your garden, are looking for parenting advice, want to watch movies or listen to music and radio plays. All books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, CD-ROMs, board games, audio books and console games can be borrowed free of charge. Digital media can also be downloaded for eBook readers, tablets and smartphones.

Reading becomes an adventure in the children's library: you can climb high up on a large reading net and, if you like, you can retreat to a lofty height with a book to browse through. Speed and skill are required in the gaming zone, where children, teenagers and adults can immerse themselves in virtual worlds on games consoles and try out games to their heart's content.

The MakerSpace with 3D printer is the place to get creative: here you can print, repair, tinker and sew - alone, in pairs or in groups. Those who want to concentrate on their work, for example for school, university or work, can retreat to one of two workrooms. The reading café is ideal for breaks or relaxed reading times, even outside in the sun when the weather is nice.

Browsing through the library in the evening or looking for new reading material early in the morning? The library also offers this option, as the library becomes an open library during unstaffed hours from 8 a.m. and until 8 p.m. seven days a week. This means that any customer aged 18 or over with a valid library card can enter the library, spend time there and return or borrow media independently.

The library also regularly hosts events, such as reading sessions for children, an internet café for 55+, English and French discussion groups, as well as author readings and children's theater.
