- Destination: Mühlenburg Castle on Mühlenburger Straße / An der Allee
This nature tour through the south-west of Spenge starts and ends at Mühlenburg Castle on Mühlenburger Straße / An der Allee. Via Katzenholz, it leads through several small stream valleys, past farm forests, mills and stately country estates. There are always wonderful views across the Ravensberg hills to the Teutoburg Forest or the Wiehengebirge mountains. The Nagelsholz is reminiscent of an airport that was never built. You can see how linen was mined in the past at the Rötekuhlen. The route continues along the Warmenau, a stream that borders Lower Saxony. The route leads back towards the city center past the Warmenau estate on some grass and forest paths to Werburg Castle and back to Mühlenburg Castle.
Further information on the route and the waypoints can be found on the Herford district cycling leisure website: www.fahr-im-kreis.de. An audioguide and a brochure are also available for download there.
