300 kilometers of signposted cycle paths, idyllically situated along the Weser and the Wiehengebirge mountains, lead you through interesting moorland and farmland landscapes, pretty villages and lively small towns in the Mühlenkreis Minden-Lübbecke. What makes the district truly unique, however, are the 43 functioning windmills, water mills and horse mills as well as Germany's only millable ship mill.

In this collection, we present six day tours by bike that connect these historic buildings. The starting point for all tours is located in such a way that you can easily arrive by train or car and then set off on your bike straight away.

In addition to our route suggestions and navigation with komoot, you can also cycle the day tours on the Mill Route according to junctions. The junction system supplements the red and white signposted cycle network. It is equipped with various numbered "junction hats" at certain signposts. These are clearly visible above the signposts.

This almost 52-kilometre cycle route runs around the municipality of Stemwede. In addition to a few mills, you will also get to know the Dümmer Nature Park. You can start anywhere along the route. We recommend starting at Rahden train station. You can park your car here or simply arrive by train.

Counter-clockwise, you start the loop and cycle towards the Dümmer Nature Park first. Numerous ditches criss-cross the area, which is an important breeding and resting place for many migratory birds. Only the first mill on this tour, the Bock windmill in Oppenwehe, is located in the nature park. This is because the Kolthoff windmill is already right on the border and the last mill on this tour - the Destel windmill - is already outside the protected area. The Rahden Museum Farm offers some variety on this mill route. We have included it as the first highlight of this tour, but you can also save the museum farmstead for the end of the tour.

On this route, you can use the junctions as a guide in the following order: 95-94-96-99-19-1-4-11-10-9-13-12-99-96-94-95
