On Timbre and Colorful Sounds

Painter Franziska’s day actually gets off to a promising start: glorious weather, a cheerful mood, and wonderful music featuring a flute and accordion greet her in her studio. But no sooner does she begin working at her easel than her good fortune comes to an end. The musicians play the strangest sounds to accompany unfamiliar-looking paintings that clearly didn’t come from her brush—and to top it all off, her paintbox has disappeared! How is the painter supposed to continue working on her beautiful painting now? Armed with advice, practical help, and plenty of music, the musicians lend a hand, playing notes to match the colors red and green and letting melodies ring out in yellow and blue. And when they’re at a loss, luckily there’s still the audience, who can make colors ring out with melodies and sounds.

A concert about music and painting with colorful sounds and resonant colors.
