Dr. Mark Benecke - live

The Mummies of Palermo

Whether Italy, Colombia or Vietnam - like an Indiana Jones of criminal biology, Mark Benecke is called to various countries around the world to track down dark secrets, investigate brutal murders and inexplicable killings. In the process, he encounters corrupt police officers and unscrupulous murderers. The mummies found in a Capuchin monastery in Palermo are a very special case. Hundreds, perhaps thousands. He gets to know the monks. What are they hiding? Dr. Made packs his suitcase and gets on the trail of the truth.

Dr. Mark Benecke's new book is, like the earlier books, easy to read for the scientifically interested layman and also so exciting for the specialist colleague that one reads it well and gladly several times and is always amazed at the absurdities that happen in the world and how miraculous explanations persist for years and centuries, even then or perhaps especially then when one scientifically debunks the so-called miracles and they can be explained with quite normal biological, chemical and physical processes:
alien hysteria, psychogenic paralysis, peasant women weeping with blood, holy Walpurgis oil, spontaneous combustion, miraculous mummies in Palermo.

Dr. Mark Benecke is known to the public for his guest appearances in the TV series "Medical Detectives" and "Autopsie - Mysteriöse Todesfälle". He has been touring Germany for years with extremely successful live lecture series.
