The R 8 is a very special circular route. Stony paths and tractor tracks are a real challenge for cyclists. The tour starts in the middle of Flora-Westfalica Park, the former state garden show grounds. Over hill and dale and farm tracks, you pass a remarkable industrial monument, the "Alte Ziegelei", which is now a museum and definitely worth a visit. Shortly afterwards, you head for the next attraction: The Verstärkeramt - a unique radio and television museum in Germany with an extremely interesting and varied collection. After 2-3 km you reach the cozy village of St. Vit, with its baroque church built in 1736. The tower, which was built later, attracts attention from afar. Cycle on through fields and meadows until you come to the old castle manor "Haus Aussel", where you should definitely take a break. The beautifully restored Burgmannshof impresses with its idyllic location and impressive architecture
The cozy Stadtholz forest area then follows in a north-easterly direction. There are many opportunities to enjoy nature here. And it is at this point that you come across the shortest river in Germany - the Ems, which you follow for quite some distance. The route continues along the river into the historic town center of Wiedenbrück, where you can take a look at the beautifully restored half-timbered houses and enjoy a well-earned snack.
