Museum/Exhibition

Since November 2008, the former Diedrichs & Knoche altar construction workshop on the edge of Wiedenbrück's old town has been home to the "Wiedenbrücker Schule" museum. Visitors to the museum will immediately notice the nationally renowned "Wiedenbrücker Künstlerhaus", which was the former home of the owners and stands in front of the museum on Rietberger Straße. The museum and Künstlerhaus form an ensemble and impressively demonstrate the historicist architectural style of the early 20th century.

The museum on the art history of historicism, which is unique in Germany, provides insights into the origins of art and craftsmanship in the 18th and 19th centuries. The great masters of the "Wiedenbrück School" movement decorated countless churches in Germany, Europe, the USA, Canada and China with their sacred craftsmanship. Experience the art of altar building and painting of the "Wiedenbrück School" as well as interesting facts about the history of Wiedenbrück.
