A visit to the Reckenberg is certainly worth a detour. Built in the middle of the 13th century as a prince-bishop's collegiate castle, it was intended to protect the town and the office. The Reckenberg was built as a moated castle for this purpose. Today, the beautiful ensemble of buildings is used by the district of Gütersloh as the seat of the authorities.
