AI in Schools—Learning with and Learning Despite AI
Learning and independent work are key prerequisites for developing skills in the field of education. Artificial intelligence can make everyday life easier and provide support with complex tasks. However, it is also becoming apparent that, particularly in the field of education, tasks are increasingly being delegated to AI chatbots, and the skills that were once acquired are being lost.
Prof. Dr. Ute Schmid, Chair of Cognitive Systems at Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg, will demonstrate in her lecture on Thursday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum, that AI systems can certainly be designed and used in a school setting in a way that promotes understanding, problem-solving skills, and evaluation skills.
In particular, individualized practice can be specifically supported by AI tutors that identify misconceptions and provide pedagogically meaningful, learning-promoting feedback.
