It is intended to serve the relaxation of body and soul, promote health, is rather cheerful in nature and naturally appeals to a wide audience, the spa music. A particularly successful advocate of this genre is the "Bad Salzuflen Orchestra".
The founder and head of the State Spa Orchestra is the native Hungarian György Kovacs, who studied clarinet himself and obtained his diploma at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
The daily spa music is performed by an ensemble of up to seven musicians, in the morning and afternoon, except on Mondays. In the winter months, the orchestra plays in a smaller formation. The spa concerts feature potpourris in the first half, for example from operettas and overtures, and in the second half, musical and pop melodies, swing, Dixieland, and more. Special concerts have specific themes, such as the Italy trip with music by Verdi and Rossini, or French composers like Bizet and Massenet. The most attended are the request concerts on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
