Wallburg bei Gellinghausen
The castle is characterized by a main and outer bailey surrounded by mighty ramparts up to 5 m high and moats up to 8 m deep. The well-preserved ramparts and ditches cannot be precisely dated to this day. The rampart complex shows phases of development from the Iron Age (approx. 700 BC) with clear evidence of Celtic culture. It was repeatedly extended and expanded until around 1,200 AD. In 2004, information boards were installed, the content of which is based on the latest scientific findings, allowing visitors to experience the history of the "Hünenburg" at first hand.
