This 25-kilometre tour offers wonderful scenic experiences, initially with sweeping views from the Haxterberg to the Senne and the Teutoburg Forest. This is followed by the small settlement of Schloss Hamborn, idyllically situated in the Ellerbach valley, where the non-profit association "Schloss Hamborn Rudolf-Steiner-Werkgemeinschaft" runs a school with boarding school, a retirement home, a farm with its own cheese dairy, a bakery, workshops, a health food store and a café. In Kirchborchen, the route passes the Mallinckrodthof farm, which is well worth seeing. The route then leads through the Almetal valley to Wewer and from there back to Paderborn.
The "Haxterberg and Almetal" tour is a 25 km circular route, so you can start and finish at any point. We recommend cycling the route in a clockwise direction.Waypoints

Directions
The approximately 25-kilometre tour starts - like all Paderborn circular tours (PB tours) - at the cycle route information display case on the western Maspernplatz near the children's playground on the inner city ring road. It is signposted as "PB 3", i.e. "Paderborn Tour 3".
The first six kilometers require athletic commitment: from the city centre to the Haxterberg airfield, there are around 130 metres of elevation gain to conquer. The descent into the Haxtergrund is then quite steep. The route then continues at a fairly leisurely pace to the end of the tour.
The section along the Ellerbach stream via Hamborn Castle towards Borchen is idyllic. The Alme then accompanies the return route until shortly before Paderborn. The starting point at Maspernplatz is quickly reached again, passing the Westfriedhof cemetery and through Riemekepark.Tour information
