For 80 million years, the Externsteine, a 40-metre-high rock formation, have formed the great gateway in the Teutoburg Forest on the former imperial route between the Rhine and Oder. Horn received its town charter in 1248 and in 1767 the Lippe royal family founded today's historic mineral and mud spa Bad Meinberg. Conventional medicine meets naturopathy. The natural remedies of moor, mineral water and carbon dioxide, Europe's largest yoga center and traditional Chinese medicine make the state spa in Meinberg unique. In the Teutoburg Forest/Egge Mountains Nature Park, the hiking star of the Hermann Heights shines above the climatic health resort of Holzhausen-Externsteine, and you can immerse yourself in the triad of yoga, moor and Externsteine.
