Bosfeld House was a Tecklenburg feudal estate from 1363 to 1647. It then experienced an eventful history and changed hands several times. After the death of its last owner, the small castle was donated back to the Bentheim-Tecklenburg family in 1725. Just one year later, the old building was replaced by a new one. This then served as the widow's residence of Countess Christina-Marie. From 1945, Haus Bosfeld was the residence of the princely family for four decades. It was not until 1987 that the Bentheim-Tecklenburg family moved back into Rheda Castle.
