Vantage point/Observation tower

Martinitreppe

One of Minden's plus points is its special urban charm, which stems from the division into a lower and an upper town, supported in places by a wall up to seven metres high.
The Martini Staircase offers pedestrians the opportunity to overcome the considerable difference in height. The original staircase was only a few metres wide and has now been extended and designed to create a convenient connection.

Once you have reached the upper plateau, why not say hello to the Minden symbol, the "Buttjer" good day, which stands here as a bronze sculpture. It is Minden's charming plus in terms of history and linguistic culture.

"Buttjer" was a term for the inhabitants of the Upper Old Town, which was also a residential area for Sinti. The Buttjer language was spoken here and also in the fishing town of Minden, which was first mentioned as early as 1850 and, as far as we know today, comprised around 900 words.
Take a look at your watch. What is the Osnik cuddling, asks the Buttjer. What time is it?
