The elaborate design in German and French Renaissance style was created by Minden architect Oskar Ziegler. In addition to two large restaurant rooms on the first floor and second floor, the building included an apartment for the landlord on the top floor. With the Feldschlösschen brewery bar in the Tonhalle opposite, the hall of the Viktoriahotel and the Ressource society house (Markt 22), this was a center of social life at the turn of the century.
The Stiftsbrauerei merged with Feldschlösschen AG in 1918. During the renovation in 1971, the original furnishings of the guest room on the first floor, including a painting of the brewery, were uncovered.
