After small beginnings in 1835 as a "Natural History Museum", visitors now have over 5000 square meters of exhibition space at their disposal with regular and highly acclaimed special exhibitions. In addition to a magnificent collection of Lippe, national and international cultural artefacts from the fields of natural history, prehistory and early history, regional history, folklore, art, furniture and interior design as well as ethnology, visitors can also learn about the myth of the Varuss Battle and Arminius (Hermann the Cheruscan).
