Holzhauser Steinbruch
The quarry, where around 400,000 m³ of stone was extracted in the 19th century, is located in the Bärenstein nature reserve. The stones were used in famous buildings such as Cologne Cathedral, the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag building in Berlin.
The quarried Osning sandstone is characterized by its easy modelling properties.
