Historische Fachwerkhäuser am Großen Wall

PDF

Historic site
Most of the gabled houses show the deliberately modest facades of Calvinist Rheda. You will look in vain for elaborate carvings here. The inscriptions very often have their origins in the Bible. The Latin language and dialect are generally not used. Often only dates and information about the builders can be read. On the sidewalks in front of the lovingly restored houses, you will often find the coats of arms of the trades that were established here around 1820; linen weavers predominate by far. There were around 100 looms in the town at the time.
