The 56-hectare historic spa park of one of the oldest mineral and mud spas in Germany was laid out in the late Baroque period from 1767 and has been repeatedly adapted and expanded to meet the requirements of modern spa operations.
A large part of the old trees and the "Schneckenberg" have been preserved from the 19th century landscape garden. Three further areas were added in the 20th century. The Berggarten, which was completed in 1932, is characterized by a geometric design with a large central staircase as its defining element. Elaborately designed planting beds lead to the Kurpark am See with a twelve-metre-high fountain. Finally, there is the Länderwaldpark. In the 1960s, various forest landscapes from a total of 14 regions of the world were created here on 40 hectares, which are connected by wide open meadows.
