The hiking parking lot in Lichtenau-Blankenrode is a good starting point for hikes through the southern Eggegebirge mountains. From here, hiking trails lead through the forests and to destinations such as the Bleikuhlen, the source of the Altenau River, and the former abandoned town of Blankenrode.
