The manor house from 1676 was the residence of the abbess of the former ladies' convent, which was dissolved in 1810. The manor house then changed hands several times and over time the beautiful half-timbered house fell into disrepair. The "Community for the Preservation of Nature" with the well-known spa physician Dr. Lachner saved the building from demolition. In 1991, the renovation work was completed by the Ravensberg Nature Foundation and the Ravensberg Biological Station has been based here since 1993.
