Heimatmuseum Marienfeld

Museum/Exhibition

Since 1999, the Marienfeld Local History Museum has been housed in the farm buildings of a farm that are no longer used for agriculture. The members of the association have set up the museum themselves and have been supported by loans and gifts from the people of Marienfeld.

The first section of the museum documents the history of land use and agriculture. Several large agricultural implements are also on display there. A farmhouse kitchen bears witness to the rural way of life in earlier times.
In the second section of the museum, the history of craftsmanship in the monastery village of Marienfeld is presented. Among other things, the workshops of a weaver, a blacksmith and a clog maker are set up.

Museum café

In May 2011, the museum café was opened at the local history museum under the management of Josef Schürmann and Katrin Magnus. It is located in the "chicken coop", which has been restored and completely refurnished. Guests can expect a cozy atmosphere and a fine selection of delicious cakes and coffee specialties in the middle of nature near the Hühnermoor.

During the season, the museum café is open every Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and on request and by arrangement for groups and clubs also on weekdays.
