The spacious farmhouse from 1645 has a typical Rietberg "Utlucht" (windowed projection from the front of the building as part of the interior, at ground level), which provides a view of the street. The Heimathaus was opened in 1989 under the management of the Heimatverein der Stadt Rietberg e.V. and has been open to visitors ever since. The cottage garden has also been lovingly restored by the local heritage association. The center of the garden is adorned by an old fountain, which is surrounded by plants.
