Forester's lodge

Historic town centre
Structure/Modern architecture
The Hövelhof forester's lodge is situated in a dreamlike setting surrounded by trees.
During the secularization of 1803, the Hövelhof forest fell to the Prussian state. In 1836, the state sold it to the municipality of Hövelhof for 8,385 Reichstaler, which then built the old forester's lodge on the "Lämmersteich" directly next to today's Friedenseiche. This forester's lodge was extended in 1893. Remains of the house can still be found today. Before 1836, the forester temporarily lived in the old kitchen house (now the tourist information office) near the hunting lodge in the center of the village. The present forester's lodge was moved to its current location in 1936 (exactly 100 years later).
