The previous building on Kaiserstrasse had already become too small at the turn of the century. In order to prevent the relocation of the authority, which was being considered together with the new building, the city made the property available to the Reichspost free of charge. The representative, late historic building combines stylistic features of the Northern Dutch Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods. In 1936, the Minden regional post office was dissolved. The interior of the main wing of the building, which was renovated in 1984-88, has been almost completely preserved.
