Buddenberg Arboretum: a nature experience with over 200 tree species and views of the Weser Uplands
Over an area of around 10 hectares, the Buddenberg Arboretum on the Steinberg is home to over 200 native and exotic tree species such as ginkgo, peony, witch hazel, gum tree, handkerchief tree and the feather bush tree as well as wonderful solitary oaks. Large visual axes open up magnificent views of the Eggegebirge mountains and, on a clear day, far into the Weserbergland.Other special features of the arboretum include a geological quarry and 20 burial mounds from the Broze period. For the layman, the arboretum offers the opportunity to get to know trees and shrubs from other countries and continents. Surprisingly often, the exotic species in the arboretum are from America or Asia, which were also native to us before the Ice Age. For experts, the arboretum with its endangered species is a place of study where they can collect illustrative material and at the same time contribute to the preservation of rare tree species.
Guided tours of the arboretum take place monthly from April to October. Dates and more detailed information can be found here.
