The local R11 circular cycle route leads through the parkland of the Münsterland region. Starting from the enchanting half-timbered village of Bockhorst, the 25 km route runs from Bockhorst via Westbarthausen, Kleekamp, Berghausen and Oldendorf. Here, in the varied landscape, the eye can see far and wide. With a view of Ravensberg Castle, the route passes Holtfeld Castle. A detour there is well worthwhile. From the parking lot at Holtfeld moated castle, you can take a look at the magnificent Weser Renaissance façade. Only an outside tour is possible here. The trail leads through fields, forests, past old mills and farms on mostly low-traffic routes back to the starting point in Bockhorst

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Take a look at Holtfeld Castle. The moated castle is one of the most beautiful moated castles in East Westphalia-Lippe. Only the outside of the castle can be visited. The village church in Bockhorst is also worth a visit. The small, romantic church with its mighty tower is surrounded by lovingly maintained old half-timbered houses.
