A two-kilometer circular trail through the forest and around the fish ponds, illuminated in the evening.

The forest sports trail, which is very popular with Paderborn residents, leads through a wooded area on the banks of the fish ponds. The path is signposted every 100 meters with the distance covered and has two large illuminated clocks.

The Paderborn fish ponds, like all Paderborn lakes, are artificially created and are fed by an artesian well: a pipeline goes about 100 meters underground. The water seeps to the surface from the limestone at this depth without the need for pumps, flows through a pipeline into the first fish pond and from there into the deeper ponds.

The six ponds surrounded by forest form the core of the popular fish ponds recreation area. There is a playground, a climbing park, rowing boat hire, a mini-golf course and a restaurant on the forest sports trail.
