The Hochwald route is a sporting challenge for experienced cyclists. You start gently in the climatic health resort of Bad Lippspring and challenge your calves all the way across the wide fields up into the Lippspring forest/state forest. The route length of around 21 km offers some steep climbs, great views and a beautiful long descent back to Bad Lippspringe!

Bad Lippspringe castle ruins

At the Lipperquelle spring, you will see the ruins of the castle, Bad Lippspringe's landmark, which was first mentioned in a document in 1312. Today, it is used as a venue for a variety of cultural events, such as historical knights' dinners.

The flower town of Bad Lippspringe

Bad Lippspringe has been awarded a gold medal in the town competition "Our town is in bloom". Elaborately designed flower arrangements catch the eye everywhere in the town area.

Directions

Starting point "Jordanquelle" - road "An der Jordanquelle" - from here turn right into "Drosselweg" - follow the road until you reach "Heimatstraße" - turn right here and then immediately left again into "Sandweg" in the direction of Hochwald - cross the L937 and continue straight ahead - on the "Steinbeke" follow the signs for the "Hochwald-Route" until you reach the "Römerbrunnen" - Römergrund - turn right here and continue on the "Hochwald-Route" until you reach the "Messerkerl" monument.

Now turn right and follow the road along the "Alter Stadtweg" (Caution! You will be riding on a steep incline on a poor stretch of road, partly on private paths) until you reach "Hindahls Kreuz" - turn right here onto "Altenbekener Fußweg" in the direction of Bad Lippspringe - cross the L937 and continue on "Lindenweg" - turn right at the next junction - and then take the next left onto "Am Steintor" - now turn right onto "Burgstraße" and continue straight on back to the starting point "An der Jordanquelle".

We would like to point out that you should be aware of typical forest hazards, such as falling branches or rough terrain.

You enter the forest and use the installations at your own risk.

A33 (exit Bad Lippspringe), B1 to Bad Lippspringe.

Parking lot at the Kongresshaus (free of charge).

Paderborn main station Tickets can be issued to Bad Lippspringe. From Paderborn station, bus line 450 (Mon - Sun at regular intervals to Bad Lippspringe, journey time approx. 25 mins).
