Linden Chapel

The Linden Chapel is dedicated to the Mother of God. Originally, there was a small little chapel built of quarry stone with an image of the Sorrowful Mother. Above the niche in which the picture stood was an inscription with the words: "Simon Hermann Böger, mayor, and Anna Maria Thorwesten, d.d. anno 1696." Because this little chapel was often and gladly visited by pious worshippers, a small half-timbered chapel, 10 feet long and 7 feet wide, was built around it in such a way that the niche with the picture was built into the back wall. This little chapel was demolished in the 1950s due to dilapidation and the chapel that still stands today was built according to plans by the building council Güldenpfennig, Paderborn. The funds for the construction of the chapel were raised by the Corpus Christi Brotherhood and from donations. The cost at the time was around 800 thalers. Construction of the chapel began around 1860.
