Christmas concert by candlelight

On Sunday, December 27, at 4:30 p.m. in the church in Bergkirchen, the Detmold harpist Antonia Josephine Fischer will perform with her father Prof. Eckhard Fischer on the violin. The two combine Christmas music with non-Christmas repertoire, thus preparing a reflective and atmospheric afternoon in a Christmas atmosphere.

On the program is the sonata in G major for harp by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and the sonata in C minor for violin and harp by Louis Spohr.

From Marcel Georges Lucien Grandjany, the rhapsody for harp and “An old Christmas Song.” The finale is the fantasy op. 121 for violin and harp by the French composer Camille Saint-Saens.
Tickets for €10, €15, or €20 can be ordered from December 6 at karten@bergkirchen.net or purchased at the box office from 3:30 p.m.

At the age of seven, Antonia Fischer won first prize with the highest score in the "Jugend musiziert" competition. This success was not her only one: Antonia is now a multiple award-winner at national and international competitions, including the VDH competition, the Felix Godefroid Harp Competition in Belgium, the International Youth Music Competitions (USA), as well as the American Classical Young Musician Award (USA). At the 12th Concours International de la Harpe in Limoges, France, she was awarded first prize.
Since she was twelve years old, Antonia has studied at the University of Music Detmold in the class of Godelieve Schrama.
In 2023, Antonia gave her first solo concert with orchestra. She performed with the YMTE Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sebastian Weigle and also enjoys chamber music. In the harp duo with Charlotte Bommas, she received the only first prize with the highest score at the national competition "Jugend musiziert," the special prize from VDH, and the Youth Chamber Music Promotion Award NRW in 2025.

Also in 2025, Antonia won a main prize at the interpretation competition of the Alumni Association and GFF of the University of Music Detmold. A detailed portrait of the young harpist was broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur in the podcast "Einstand."

Antonia has also been a scholarship holder at the Detmold Summer Academy multiple times and was awarded the "Young Art" promotion prize by Verbundvolksbank OWL. Important musical impulses she received from Masumi Nagasawa, Anaëlle Tourret, Zachary Hatcher, Isabelle Perrin, and Maria Graf.
