It is intended to serve the relaxation of body and soul, promote health, be of a rather cheerful nature, and naturally appeal to a broad audience: the spa music. A particularly successful advocate of this genre is the "Bad Salzuflen Orchestra."
The founder and director of the state spa orchestra is the native Hungarian György Kovacs, who studied clarinet himself and obtained his diploma from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
The daily spa music is performed by an ensemble of up to seven musicians, in the mornings and afternoons, except on Mondays. During the winter months, the orchestra performs in a smaller formation. The spa concerts consist of potpourris in the first half, for example from operettas and overtures, and in the second half, musical and pop melodies, swing, Dixieland, and more. Special concerts have specific themes, such as the Italian journey featuring music by Verdi and Rossini, or French composers like Bizet and Massenet. The most attended concerts are the request concerts on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
