Wassermühle Volmerdingsen (Knicksiekmühle) - Westfälische Mühlenstraße Nr. 44

Mill
The mill has a long history dating back to 1608. For centuries, it was an important building in the region, characterized by its operation with water power. Over the years, however, the mill has undergone various upheavals due to both external influences and technological changes. Today, it is a restored monument that keeps the history and traditional use of mills alive.
The history of the mill dates back to 1608, when it was first mentioned. Its water supply originally came from the Wittekind spring in Bergkirchen. In 1906, however, the mill suffered considerable damage due to mining, which meant that only around a third of the original water volume was available. Despite these restrictions, the mill underwent an important modernization: in 1947/48, it was converted to an electric drive and both the grinding and the grist aisle were newly installed.

However, operations ceased in 1953 and the mill fell into disrepair. It was not until 1989 that the Volmser Heimatfreunde took on the mill and began extensive restoration work. These efforts bore fruit, and in 1992 the mill was reopened after years of restoration. Today, the mill wheel runs for show and the mill is a historical relic that keeps the history of the region alive.
