In the first half of the 20th century, it was an open-air bath whose pool was filled with the dammed water of the Wapel. Bathing operations were later discontinued and the pool was converted into a light and air pool. The Wapelbad now has a small swimming pool for children, a beach volleyball court, play equipment and a café, and its location in the countryside makes it an ideal destination for a bike ride. The open-air festival Wapelbeats also takes place at Wapelbad in summer.
