The so-called "former Haus Gaentzsch" (name of the previous owners with an electrical shop in Brakel) is a two-storey half-timbered building from the 19th century. From 1905, the basement housed a general shop with a cobbler's shop. In 1960, the stately half-timbered building was given a glazed shop window area at the front for the former electrical shop, and from 1974 the building was used as a textile shop. The town of Brakel acquired the building in 2012, but the shop window front has since been removed as part of the refurbishment of the front part of the building between 2016 and 2018, which has since been used as an administrative office.
While the rear part of the building had become obsolete after many conversions and a long period of disuse, it was replaced by a new building to match the listed building at the front. The front part of the building was preserved and refurbished in line with its listed status.
