Museum/Exhibition
The Brakel town museum shows the development of the town on around 100 m².
The Brakel town museum in the Haus des Gastes (upper floor) covers around 100 square metres and shows the development of the town from the Neolithic settlement in the Nethegau region to the present day. The townscape and layout of Brakel bear witness to an important medieval planned settlement.

The town's history can be traced back to 1259 thanks to a valuable town archive. The exhibits worth seeing include Stone Age axes, axes and stone blades, medieval ceramics, glass and metal artefacts, Baroque cut glass from the Emde glassworks and hymn books from the Jewish community of Brakel. In combination with explorations of medieval barrel and cross-vaulted cellars, the historical town tour through Brakel or the topography of Jewish life in the town of Brakel, a visit to the Brakel town museum can be an exciting experience. The town museum is a 10-minute walk from Brakel railway station.
