The sculpture "Die Große Sitzende" was created by the Berlin sculptor "Georg Kolbe" (1877 to 1947) in 1929. Kolbe was one of the outstanding German sculptors of the 20th century.

The bronze sculpture is 99 centimeters high. This sculpture is the 6th cast. The original was destroyed during the war.

The sculpture is a donation from the Sparkasse to the citizens of Lage on the occasion of the completion of the pedestrian zone in 1985.
