The almost 3 km long circular trail takes you through the Lage municipal forest with its wealth of tree species and large orchards. The recreation close to the town offers you plenty of nature and also lets you learn interesting facts about the history of Lage.

The circular route begins at the parking lot near Wilhelmsburg Castle. The exposed location and the tower, which could be climbed in the early years, made the "castle" a popular excursion destination. At the entrance to the forest at Wilhelmsburg Castle, you will find the so-called maze on the left-hand side. A little further downhill, you will come across a group of memorial stones, the so-called stone grotto. Continuing along the path, an area with numerous depressions and cuts in the terrain stretches out to the left and right. Marl mining, a sedimentary rock made of clay and limestone, has left its mark here. During the Second World War, Lage was the target of several bombing raids. You can still see the blasting funnels as depressions in the terrain along the path on the right. At the end of the circular route, the orchards (5) of the municipal forest await you. The town council still offers fruit for sale today and looks after the old fruit varieties.
