The "Seven Springs" have long been said to have a rejuvenating effect. They are known as the "Jungborn spring". This tradition goes back to a man who is said to have lost his way one day in the area around Herlingsburg Castle. He wandered around hour after hour looking for the right path until darkness finally fell over him. After some time, without knowing where he was, he set up camp for the night to lie down. The hours of walking had made him very thirsty, so he just couldn't get to sleep. Suddenly he heard the invigorating sound of rippling water. He got up again to follow the sound and discovered several rivulets in the moonlight. Without hesitation, he crouched down to draw from the clear spring water. As he drank, an invigorating feeling of freshness suddenly ran through his body. A short time later, so refreshed by the water, he stood up and continued on his way home, fitter than ever. Despite the lingering darkness, he quickly found the right course. At home, his waiting wife met him and shone an oil lamp on him. She was startled at the sight of her husband. She was astonished to see a great change in her husband: he had become younger, several years younger. The man told her about the water from the springs that had revitalized him and how to reach them, as the woman was eager to taste the water herself. She put her resolution into action in the early hours of the morning and searched for the springs. When she found them, she pounced on the water without restraint and began to drink it greedily and to excess. After a while, she began to feel the desired effects, but unfortunately the large quantities of water she drank at lightning speed proved to be her undoing. His wife should have been back long ago, but there was no sign of her anywhere, so her husband set off to look for her at the springs. And sure enough, he found her sitting there with long braids. The spring water had rejuvenated her into the little girl she had once been...

Directions & Parking facilities
The Seven Springs are located on the circular hiking trail "Der Osterbergweg". From the starting point of the hike (St. Kilian's Church) you can reach them in approx. 20-30 minutes.
