Schloß Bökerhof in Brakel-Bökendorf

Fortress/Castle
In the 19th century, the Bökerhof was the centre of the "Romantic Circle" with Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, the Brothers Grimm, Hoffmann von Fallersleben, Clemens von Brentano and Josef von Görres.
The Barons von Haxthausen family built Bökerhof Castle between 1769 and 1771.

Cross the "Laubengang" at Bökerhof Castle. This is a largely preserved hedge of hornbeams. In the summer months in the first third of the 19th century, it invited the von Haxthausen siblings and their numerous guests to linger.
